im not sure wich hack is probably the best for me. I own the gh2 with the Nokton 17.5 mm and the sd card for 95mbs recording. I need stable recording times between 1 hour and 1,5 hours. My wish is to get less noise and more room to grade with davinci resolve lite.

I was late to the GH2 game (as I really was fine with my GH1 other than the terrible green banding in low light that my camera produced. Honestly, it was one of the worst I've seen of any examples) and my job in the last couple years has been more projects and less time to dink around (I'm not complaining). So I've messed around with Flowmotion, and Sanity, not as much with Driftwood as I don't have 95 MB/s cards and don't have the time. But there are so many hacks, variations of Driftwood hacks especially, that I'd like to try out, but even being an "experienced" GH hacker, there are so many out there I have a hard time wrapping my head around what they do, or claim to do and what the new settings are.

Really, it's been this way for anyone coming into the GH hacking world from the beginning with the GH1. Tons of information spread across tons of forums and topics.

So, my question is: Is there anywhere that has a simple table with a lot of the major settings and some information on what their claims, bitrates and GOPs are? Something like the attachment below (this data is probably NOT AT ALL accurate, I'm doing it as an example). If there isn't one, doesn't anyone else think that this would be extremely helpful, especially for someone who isn't on the forums every couple of days keeping updated on the latest and greatest patch? I could have done this for the GH1, but I'm not qualified (as I stated above) to do this for the GH2.

Is there someone willing to put together a rough list? Maybe a wiki page somewhere so others can add details to each?

This morning I tried 720p,and 1080i in M mode, Manual Exposure and discovered the following.

seem to have lost control over the live view, as it shows up being over exposed on the LCD and LVF, and of course records underexposed.

auto like exposure when recording , sometimes with dark corners disolving in.

screen flashes when recording is finished.

menu screens darkens and lightens depending where lens is pointed.

Ex Tele when switched on, won't show on LVF/LCD, so you can't frame it, but magnification kicks in when shutter is pressed

Have taken out battery and card and restarted etc. present card in camera is sandisk 16g, 30MB.

There's a few other issues, but I've tried all day going through FAQ for something similar as I'm running with a 16g Sandisk SD, until my larger card arrives in about a week. Tried resets as suggested, and wondering if I should restore Panasonic firmware as suggested in FAQ. Or should I wait until 64g sdxc card arrives and then see where I'm at??? I just don't want to do more harm than good by trying to fix it.

24p Cinema mode seems ok at this stage.

I have restored panasonic's firmware 1.1 as per instructions in the faq sections, and also followed the instructions by mpgxsvcd with his guide to "setting stable conditions" and installing No adverse affects settings with ptools 3.6.4, and another firmware download from panasonic, and think I got all that right.

Bit rates are back to 22,000 average, and recording time has increased to about 50 min @ 24p. But sadly I still have the same issues that I mentioned above . So I'm wondering if my camera needs to be taken back to someone like Panasonic for repair.

I want to make a video in slow motion with twixtor so I was searching for a patch with 60 frames. I downloaded a few, but my camera only show me videos in 50 frames. Can sombody help me. I don't know were i can finde the mode with 60 frames..

Basically I am looking for something that offers an improvement in bitrate over stock say to around 45-60Mbps max in all modes and stable in all features like iA, the tele mode, etc….

I can always use ptools and crank up the bitrate but without much expert knowledge I am not sure if just doing that alone would be the right approach.

Please let me know if you have come across a nice stable patch that wold fir the bill...i was using EOSHD but that always crashed.

Ok so after a failed attempt to use a ninja with my GH2 yesterday for a shoot today, Last night I decided to hack my GH2 . All went well followed you guys great instructions and awesome, i got a 44mbps hack loaded for todays shoot.

Im so annoyed at not being able to use the Ninja .

However What I'd really like is to take it to 50mbps, nothing more for now but I need 24p and 25P and 50i.

Ive got quite confused with all the avaialable hacks but wandered if anyone can share or link me to such a hack. with something that has these 3 formats at about 50mbps or just above or below.

I saw flowmotion 1.1 had 50mbps and 24/25 p .. i think but then theres a v2 which doesnt mention this . Any help greatly appreciated

The only reason i dont want to go to 100mbps yet is my memory card size, I have 3 8 GB Gold pana SDHC cards and one SAN DISSK 32GB SD EXTREMEthanks

I own a T2i and have learned to use it over the last couple years. I've been curious about the GH2 since the hacking stuff became popular and all over YT and Vimeo. Now I met a guy who's lending me his GH2 (with a Nokton 25) for a week. I will be shooting a wedding on Saturday and I don't want to go there not knowing the camera (I'll have the T2i on me anyway but I really want to play with this beast).

The menu is not very intuitive but I don't think I need to mess with it anyway. I chose 24p CINEMA and Smooth mode (-2,-2,-2,-2,). My friend tells me it's already hacked and I wonder what hack he is using. Is it possible to know ? I tried to shoot something and play it back on my mac and MBP couldn't handle that much glory I guess. The video just kept freezing. Is that normal for a raw MTS file to be unreadable before conversion ? BTW, is there an easy way to find the bitrate of a video file ?

Im looking to shoot concerts with it, (as the one of the cameras along side my 'camcorders' as part of a multicam set up) so need as higher quality and good low light performance, as about a hour's worth of footage would fit onto that card. (if that makes senses as most the gigs i work are no longer than a hour in length) 24/25fps in 1080i/p (i'm indifferent as i know what im asking is already very specific)

I know nothing of GOP or anything technical, so try keep your advise dumbed down for me please haha

The images I take look something like the attached one (just a sample). An recording session is 1-5 minutes and I don't need high FPS.

I Have a GH-2 with a 64GB SanDisk ExtremePro SDXC Card. To get the best 3D resolution afterwards I need the highest resolution with the best quality i can achieve. The best would of course be to take normal pictures but I don't want to ruin the mechanical shutter.

Now I have no idea if i should use AVCHD od MJPEG. Overall AVCHD is more efficient but MJPEG has more hacking capabilities (fps and resolution).

I thought of using MJPEG with ~3k and ~5FPS but dunnow which settings i should take exactly.

What do you guys think?

Should I leave that hack on the camera, or just put it back to the original firmware? And if I leave it do I need a specific SD card?

So this suggests a couple of things might be happening:

1) Something is causing FCP7 not to report the correct data rate for AVCHD files converted to Pro Res. This seems unlikely as the data rates for other media and even Pro Res vary between 13-160 ish mbs, mostly as you'd expect according to camera spec. 2) The log and transfer conversion of AVCHD to Pro Res is somehow limited in FCP7 and is not actually "allowed" at the higher bit rate due to something in the programming. This is the most disturbing because it means that the extra bit rate is indeed being lost. Basically this boils down to 'the patch doesn't work in FCP7'

Anybody made further progress on this?
