I modified tar and recompiled it (I was able to compile only latest version, 1.29), however when I try to pack firmware back with recompiled tar it makes different archive. Actually it makes exactly the same archive as original, unmodified tar.

Can you suggest what can I try? Or probably new tar with different headers will still flash to camera?

There is a way to hack this camera and have manual mode on video?

I have a 3rd party battery that worked for a couple weeks, then the GH1 body stopped recognizing it. Can anyone recommend a reputable source of 3rd party GH1 batteries, or should I be looking for originals?

I wish to Apply a hack to the gh2 , I plan to use it to record at a wedding, I need something stable so I won't have the worry of it crashing, and I need it to remove the 30 min record time. I have noticed people add a few hacks together (how to do u that) and is it needed ? I would like to get the best quality I can, and have been looking forward to getting a gh2. I can't find a link which says which each hack does, so have been a bit confused.

When I focus, whether through the LCD or LVF just before the image is in focus to my eye it looks soft and dreamy more so than out of focus, and beyond the subject it will start to actually look out of focus.

I took some when it actually looked IN FOCUS and I feel like it just doesn't look as sharp as my old Canon 60D (By quite a bit to be honest)

I'll post a picture so you can see. I shot this in manual, f/2.8 at 70mm on a tripod with around 160 shutter speed. I'll post a before and after grade.

I got a t3i and i some money(320$) and i want to get the cheapest way to get the full frame field of view, and i think change to a mirrorless camera with a cheap speedboster is the best choice, i think a lumix hacked camera is perfect boost the nice ptool hack, so i want to now what are the best option.

Now with the gf series camera can enable manual controls? some gh2 like but smaller like gf2? what about the g series, work fine with the ptool hack?

Is it a common thing with GH2 at low ISO to have noticeable noise in mid to dark areas? Is it just a case of using neat video on every shot? I definitely notice a improvement of actual pic quality with the hacks, just the noise is annoying & lets the quality of the picture down for me.

Now the other conundrum...The sd card I have that already has the firmware on it. Is this now a useless card to use for a hack?! If I put it into my Mac to begin the process of the hack, can the Firmware be put on again if it's already on sd card?? I have no idea how it all works. Could really do with some advice!

An alternative option is to clear the camera and restart recording but I was wondering if there was a lower quality patch I can use to stretch the recording. As I understood it the quality of the HDMI output and encoders are not linked, so the recording can look horrible as long as the HDMI out is clean.

But if I try to import the files directly into FCPX, it fails with each clip. And if I try using ClipWrap, it produces bad files. I also tried using MPEGStreamClip, but when it exports the result had juddering.

Obviously I'm using OSX. Can anyone suggest an approach to import the files - ideally as ProRes -- into FCPX?

In my most recent shoot I was using a 95mb/s Extreme Sandisk and 24H mode.

I played the video on my computer when I got home to find it looks grainy. I used 400 ISO throughout the entire shoot and according to my meter I was properly exposed.

Attached is a photo. I've seen shots from other people's moon t7 footage that are far more crisp. Any ideas?

1) Whats the max write speed of the camera? Bus Speed??

2) Whats the SD-Spec Version of the Camera? 1.01, 2.0, 3.01(UHS-I) ?

3) I read somewhere on the inernet the Spec Version is 2.0. Lets say the SD Spec Version ist 2.0 which would mean the max bitrate is 25MByte = 200MBits Is there any reason for buying a SD Card with a faster writing speed than 25MByte ???

4) If so why is the Sandisk 64 95Mbyte Card the most recommended one?

5) Any advantage of buying the Sandisk 280Mbyte card?

I've read that some people use 5DtoRGB (trial version keeps crashing) and MPEG Streamclip to convert files for editing. So far I've found the easiest route on Mac is to open the 'package contents' and grab the .MTS files to convert into ProRes through Quicktime. I've been doing this for about a month now and now wondering if this is indeed the best workflow or whether there is a better workflow out there.
