Awards shows are some of my favorite things about Hollywood. They help me mark all the things I watch during the year, and I love seeing people celebrate their hard work. Recently, the Emmys changed the rules for some of their categories for what can compete and how. Television Academy Announces Rules Changes for 77th and 78th Emmy CompetitionsRules for what can or cannot be nominated for the Emmy awards are avail online, but given the changes in the industry over the last few years, there have been tweaks to the system. These changes will go into effect over the next two Emmy awards. Changes for the 77th Emmy Awards (2025): Directing: Directors can now submit episodes from multiple shows they've worked on within the same category as long as they're for different shows. Previously, they could only submit one entry per category. Guest Performers: Actors nominated or winning in Lead or Supporting categories can no longer submit as Guest Performers for the same role in future years. They can still enter in Lead or Supporting categories.
