SIGMA has released a new ultra-wide zoom lens for Panasonic L-Mount and Sony E-Mount full-frame cameras: the SIGMA 16-28mm f/2.8 DG DN. This bright f/2.8 constant aperture lens is part of the company’s Contemporary lineup of lenses, which means it is relatively compact and lightweight. So let’s take a closer look at it! Japanese lens manufacturer SIGMA has been relatively quiet this year, with the launch of “only” X-Mount prime lenses and the 20mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary prime lens. The Contemporary lineup consists of various prime and zoom photo lenses designed for Panasonic L-Mount and Sony E-Mount mirrorless cameras. In addition, two kinds of lenses are available in the Contemporary line: DC lenses that cover APS-C sensors and DG lenses that cover full-frame sensors. However, the wait is over, and the team at SIGMA has unveiled what they’ve been working on. Photographers and filmmakers will now have an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens option with the new SIGMA 16-28mm f/2.8 DG DN. Also, this is a very compact zoom lens at only 10cm/4in long. Furthermore, the lens has inner zoom/focus systems, which means it doesn’t expand or retract as you zoom in and out. So for gimbal users, you won’t need to rebalance as you change the focal length. Moreover, the lens mount is dust/splash resistant. Image credit: SIGMA On the...
