Sean Baker Highlights Indie Film Struggles in His Spirit Awards Speech

Sean Baker is a great director and advocate for independent filmmaking. I have thoroughly enjoyed his work from Tangerine to The Florida Project and now to this year's Anora (plus many more). Baker is a staunch advocate for indie film, and he used his biggest platform possible, his speech at the Independent Spirit Awards, to highlight some of the struggles indie film and filmmakers are facing. I’m gonna read a little, so please forgive me. First off, Ali, Alonso, Jane, and Brady, we all know there is no best. We all made wholly original films, and it’s an honor to be in this category with you, so thank you. Film Independent, I’ve said this before, but it’s definitely worth repeating: next to my parents, you’ve been my greatest supporter.
