The Raw Convertor app, which can batch convert ProRes RAW into CinemaDNG format for native raw workflow in DaVinci Resolve, just got an update to v6.0.0 that makes the app available on iOS (iPhone 15 Pro, 16 Pro, and Apple silicon iPads). Furthermore, Raw Convertor now supports per-camera statistics, resume feature, video details view, automatically saved conversion settings, proxy workflow, and more. The year is 2025, and we still do not have native ProRes RAW support in DaVinci Resolve (and it is unclear when or if we will get it). As more and more cameras start supporting internal ProRes RAW recording, I think this is something Blackmagic Design will have to address in the future. Before that happens, there are a few workaround options. In my opinion, one of the most elegant ones is the Raw Convertor app. Initially launched in 2021, the Raw Convertor is a handy app that can convert a batch of ProRes RAW (or PRR HQ files, including audio) into CinemaDNG (uncompressed, 3:1, 5:1, or 7:1) so that users can open these in DaVinci Resolve and still be able to adjust raw metadata such as white balance or exposure. The last time we reported on the app was back in 2023 when the creators launched their Windows version. Since then, there have been multiple updates, and the recent one to version 6.0.0 is rather significant, so let’s take a look at what is new. Raw Convertor macOS UI.
