Panasonic has just announced an upcoming firmware update for the Panasonic LUMIX GH6 version 2.3 with the addition of external 12-bit RAW video recording capabilities to Blackmagic Design video recorders, as well as support for 4K 120p/100p HDMI output. This firmware should be available July 10th, free of charge. The Panasonic LUMIX GH6 was released in February 2022 as the successor to the famous GH5. This competent Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera can record 5.7K60P footage internally in Apple ProRes 422, and in FHD 1920 x 1080 resolution at up to 300fps. A couple of months after its launch, Panasonic released firmware update version 2.0 that unleashed external ProRes RAW capabilities to Atomos Ninja V/V+ external monitor recorders, as well as expanded internal ProRes 422/422 HQ internal recording capabilities. More recently, in September 2022, the firmware update version 2.2 added direct SSD recording over USB. After ten months without an update, Panasonic is back with a firmware update version 2.3 for the LUMIX GH6 that adds BRAW external recording capabilities and support for 4K 120p/100p via the HDMI output.
