The NINJA V/V+ gain yet another camera for ProRes RAW recording: the OM SYSTEM OM-1 (article here) can now send DCI 4K at up to 60 fps to an attached NINJA monitor/recorder, which records it as a 12-bit ProRes RAW stream. The OM SYSTEM (formerly Olympus) OM-1 mirrorless MFT camera can already record DCI 4K video at up to 60 fps in 4:2:0 10-bit or up to 240 fps in Full HD internally. So if you’re happy with these specs, you can of course still use a connected NINJA V/V+ as a compact field monitor, but that’s about it. If, however, you fancy 12-bit ProRes RAW recording, this update is for you! The camera can now output ProRes RAW in DCI 4K up to 60p in 12-bit via (micro) HDMI to the NINJA V/V+. Both devices need a free firmware update for this. In practical terms, this means offering filmmakers the maximum degree of flexibility when it comes to working with the codec in post-production. Accordingly, ProRes RAW clips recorded from the OM-1 will support White Balance and ISO adjustment sliders in Apple Final Cut Pro.
