With the recent RED acquisition, we already know that Nikon is planning to gain a significant portion of the existing video market. We also got several reports about Nikon actively developing Nikkor cinema lenses: I first reported back in March that Nikon will start making cinema lenses for Z mount with T stops. Keiji Oishi (RED’s new CEO) on a new line of Nikkor cinema lenses: “In the future, we would like to take these different approaches into consideration for an additional cinema lens lineup if we have a chance”. From a recent interview with Nikon/RED: “Nikon is actively considering developing Nikkor cinema lenses”.
