How to Write Sketch Comedy Like SNL

Saturday Night Live, and other sketch shows, are a blast. (I have bookmarked our post on the 80 best SNL sketches, and I keep pulling it up and watching a handful of them every day.) I love shows like Key & Peele, Chappelle's Show, Inside Amy Schumer, and I Think You Should Leave primarily because the writing is so incredible. So, if you're a fan of these shows and aspire to write sketch comedy, it's a good idea to make sure your sketch comedy writing skills are up to snuff.You can learn sketchwriting at places like Second City and UCB, but I thought I'd take a stab at teaching you the basics here. You're going to use screenwriting software to type them eventually.
