How to Build a DIY Wireless Follow Focus Out of LEGOs

The adult in me wants to build my own follow focus, but the kid in me wants to do it with LEGOs. We all know that LEGOs are the greatest things ever invented and that, if they had a mind to, they could assemble themselves into the multi-colored plastic hero the world deserves and bring about world peace. Until then, they can be used to create some pretty sweet DIY filmmaking gear. In this tutorial, Jacob Kassnoff of Indy Mogul shows you how to craft a wireless follow focus rig out of LEGO Technic pieces, some motors, 3D-printed gear, and two LEGO Mindstorm EV3 programmable bricks. Check it out below: Okay, unless you're a ginormous LEGO nerd, you probably don't just have these supplies lying around, because rarely are LEGO Technic pieces or LEGO Mindstorm EV3 bricks just sitting in an attic somewhere gathering dust in a box labeled "Kevin's Old Toys."
