Nearly five years ago, we began a journey to independently create a documentary about our favorite Disney film, A Goofy Movie. We didn't reach out to Disney with this idea, uncertain of how they would react. Like many independent filmmakers, we took a risk, driven by a creative spark and a sense of naïveté, believing it would all somehow work out. As we write this, we are days away from our film being released on Disney+. How did this happen? How did we manage to pull this off? I’ve found myself asking these questions a lot recently because the entire experience feels like a dream come true — almost as if it were straight out of a Disney movie itself. We had set out to tell the story of the A Goofy Movie fandom, fully aware of its ever-growing cult status over the years. After all, we were part of that passionate fan base ourselves.
