Hovervolt has recently released a new voltage meter called Cable One, which features a 1/4”-20 mounting point as well as a cable with either a D-Tap or LEMO connector. This allows you to rig the device wherever it’s the most comfortable on your camera setup and connect it to a power source to monitor the remaining battery life. Pricing starts at €37. If you power your camera rig using a V-Lock or Gold mount battery, it’s always a good idea to carry a D-Tap voltmeter in your camera bag. Indeed, when this small device is plugged into a D-Tap power source, it can provide a clear reading of the remaining battery life, thus helping you avoid unwanted shutdowns in the middle of a shot. This is especially useful if your camera and battery (or battery plate) can’t communicate with each other. Last year, Italian company Hovervolt introduced the Volt One, a simple voltmeter with a built-in display that can be plugged directly into a D-Tap port.
