Today, DJI announced the newest addition to their “Ronin family of gimbals”. Please welcome the DJI Ronin-SC. It is smaller and lighter than the Ronin-S, features a maximum payload of 4.4 lbs (2 kg) and brings some new features like Force Mobile and ActiveTrack 3.0. Ronin-SC Gimbal. Source: DJI Last year, when DJI announced the Ronin-S, they were entering an already quite crowded market of one-handed gimbals. Because of their good name and popularity of their bigger Ronin-branded gimbals, the Ronin-S too became quite popular. The number of views on our DJI Ronin-S Review and Tutorial walk-through video only confirms its popularity. As many filmmakers pointed out, one of the specs of the Ronin-S didn’t make them so happy. Mostly its weight: The DJI Ronin-S gimbal weighs 4.1 lb (1.86 kg) which is ok for a short shooting, but not so comfortable for longer shoots. To make handling of the Ronin-S easier DJI released the Switch grip dual handle. You can find out more about it in our article from last week. The truth is that the Ronin-S can carry quite heavy payloads – up to around 7.94 lb (3.6 kg), which is twice its own weight.
