One of the top stories of 2025 so far has been the nearly endless battle between the Chinese company DJI and the United States government. There have been ups and downs, and it’s honestly hard to say where things currently stand or where they might be here in the next few days, weeks, or months.As of today, though, DJI is able to operate in the United States and is still actively selling, updating, and making plans to release new drones throughout the year. However, there have been de facto bans signed into law, a Countering CCP Drones Act that passed in the House (although it failed in the Senate), and stipulations added to new National Defense acts that further threaten DJI’s future in the United States.It’s a lot to keep up with, to say the least. There have been a few unsubstantiated reports of DJI drones having some issues clearing customs (or at least being held up), but nothing to point to any more policies or laws prohibiting DJI drones from being bought, sold, or updated.
