Atomos Adds ProRes RAW Support to Olympus OM-D Cameras

You can now record external ProRes RAW with the Olympus OM-D E-M1X and OM-D E-M1 Mark III mirrorless cameras. Is the Panasonic GH series next? Even after Olympus called it quits after 84 years and started selling off parts of its business, Atomos has managed to enable ProRes RAW recording over HDMI for the Olympus OM-D E-M1X and OM-D E-M1 Mark III mirrorless cameras, which are popular among still shooters. Bringing ProRes RAW to the cameras marks a shift in video potential. Now shooters can pair the cameras with the Ninja V and reap the benefits of the compressed RAW format as Sony, Canon, Nikon, and Panasonic users. Both cameras feature a Micro Four Thirds sensor capable of recording up to 4K DCI at 24p, though the output is 4:2:2 8-bit. However, with RAW, you will be able to push the color grade more than you would by simply shooting an 8-bit ProRes file. Check out the comparison shots below.
